SCEE likes to know it all

My jaw dropped today. I heard that Sony wants to know if the numbers of pre-orders that gameshops and retailers said to have, are a truthful number. Seeing how the Playstation 3 sells in the US and Asia I can understand why they want to know. Of course you can ask retailers to tell what number of preorders they have. But in my opinion they really cross the line with their next step in their surge for information. They actually ask the retailers to give the list of people who preordered them, sure that seems acceptable but they want it to include address and phone number of the customer. What.. happened to privacy? If people give their addresses to the gameshop that is with their consent. But to give it to a commercial enterprise....Sony please get your act together.
